Tax waived on vehicles used for testing
The Cabinet approved waiving the excise tax, VAT, and import tax on car and motorcycle models imported for research, development, and testing, to promote Thailand as an automotive hub for the region.

Importers can deduct the depreciation costs of the car or motorcycle when calculating its net profit for corporate income tax purposes.
Importers eligible for this waiver must be researchers or developers, and must obtain permission from the Excise Department. The car and motorcycle models must be new, without having ever been sold in Thailand, and must be used only for research, development, or testing purposes.
