Firms located in the area will be required to limit the volume of nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide and volatile organic compounds they emit to levels set by relevant authorities. They will also need to conduct an environmental impact assessment before being eligible for any investment incentives, the BOI said in a statement.

The BOI, a government agency that grants investment incentives, also agreed to increase tax incentives for existing industrial operators in the area that upgrade their machines or equipments to reduce the environmental impact of their operations, the statement said.
