Mazars Thailand Legal Update – July 2011

The Ministry of Labor has announced, effective from 13 June 2011, changes to the work permit application forms and application procedure.

The significant points are:

The photo size has changed from 5cm x 6 cm to 3cm x 4 cm (for a first time application);
The blood type of the applicant must be specified on the employment certificate form; and
For a work permit renewal, a medical certificate from a Thai doctor is required (previously only a new applicant needed to provide the medical certificate).

For applications for work permits under the BOI, IEAT incentive and other special laws, the existing application form is still valid.
