Immigration Alert: Overstay

The Immigration Bureau is now strictly monitoring foreigners who violate the Immigration Act, B.E. 2522 by overstaying in Thailand.

When contacting the Immigration Office (either for a visa extension, to apply for re-entry or 90 day reporting), foreigners will be asked to sign “An Acknowledgement of Penalties for Visa Overstay”, where the penalties are as follows:

Foreigners who present themselves:

Overstay for more than 90 days

Forbidden from re-entering to Thailand for 1 year

Overstay for more than 1 year

Forbidden from re-entering to Thailand for 3 years

Overstay for more than 3 years

Forbidden from re-entering to Thailand for 5 years

Overstay for more than 5 years

Forbidden from re-entering to Thailand for 10 years

Foreigners who are apprehended:

Overstay for less than 1 year

Forbidden from re-entering to Thailand for 5 years

Overstay for more than 1 year

Forbidden from re-entering to Thailand for 10 years
