New Auditors’ Report and Key Audit Matters

The auditor’s report is the key deliverable communicating the results of the audit process. The new and revised Auditor Reporting Standards are designed to enhance auditor’s reports for investors and other users of financial statements.

The new auditor’s report includes the following basic elements, ordinarily in the following layout:

i. Opinion

ii. Basis for opinion

iii. Going concern (if any)

iv. Key audit matters

v. Other information

vi. Responsibilities for the financial statements

vii. Auditors’ responsibilities for the audit of the financial statements

viii. Date, address, and signature

Key audit matters - those matters that, in the auditor’s professional judgement, were of most significance in the audit of the financial statements of the current period. Key audit matters are selected from matters communicated to those charged with governance.
