BOI Delays New Promotion Scheme
On 17 May 2013, the Board of Investment (‘BOI’) agreed to extend the timetable for finalisation of the Investment Promotion Privileges and Strategies from July to December 2013.

The new strategy focuses on 10 targeted sectors including infrastructure, logistics, hospitality and wellness and others. In addition, the BOI will also replace regional clusters with zoning system privileges. With the stated aim of enhancing transparency in investment and development processes, the draft of the Investment Promotion Privileges and Strategies will be finalised on the revised schedule as above for BOI approval and is expected to be effective from 1 January 2015 onwards.
