Extension of a special tax deduction for STEM employee cost

Royal Decree No. 777 extends the special tax deduction that corporate taxpayers can claim for the salary costs of STEM employees to 31 December 2025.

A 150% corporate income tax deduction is provided for expenses regarding STEM employees' salary costs paid from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2025. However, an additional 50% deduction must not exceed 100,000 Baht per person per month.  

“STEM employee” means an employee who is educated and highly skilled in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.  

Qualified STEM employees must meet certain conditions, including having certificates proving their skills and being employed under an employment contract commencing between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2025. 

Qualified employers must operate a business in a targeted industry under the law governing the targeted business industry.
